Myspace.com

Someone sent me an invitation to join myspace.com. So what the hell, I joined. To put it mildly, it sucks. Quite a bit, actually. I don't know if it's just me -- it could be -- or if it's them. I think it's them. It's not very user-friendly. It's a labyrinth of links and profiles, friends and advertising space. Maybe it's good for the whole listen-to-my-music people. Since I don't have any music of my own, that doesn't appeal to me.

The problem now is that I only have two friends and so I appear to be a loser. Let me assure you, I'm not a loser. My two friends are my new husband,
Stoker, and some guy named Tom who sent me an email when I joined. I don't know this Tom guy and haven't responded to his email. Am I supposed to? Anyway, I think it's weird that some dude sent me an email as though he's my friend (he's probably not even real). Did I accept him as a friend? I don't know. I might have accidentally clicked on an "accept" button somewhere on the page. That's entirely possible since there's a link every other inch on myspace.com. As you might have guessed from that last hyperbole, I'm no tech-guru. I'm not even tech-savvy. It's like I've lived in a cave for 25 years or something.

Anyway, check out my
myspace.com page and sign up to be my friend. If you know how. I don't know how. I haven't figured that out yet. Don't you think it should be easier to figure out? What morons started myspace.com? And do they realize it sucks?

Vote now. Be heard (this poll is very scientific. I'm going to send the results to myspace.com).

As far as user-friendly goes, myspace.com
sucks
is the friendliest (in my book)
I've never been to myspace.com and never will

Free polls from Pollhost.com

p.s. I've changed this post a few times, in my search for the best poll-maker. This poll-maker still sucks. But, like I said, I'm not tech-savvy. So, if you have any suggestions on how to make it better, please leave a comment. I can't quite figure out how to close the stupid gap between the poll and my last paragraph. Oh. Now it works. Frustrating!

First of all, welcome back, Mrs. Recently Wed! Second, I love the quote at the bottom of this page, about connecting ideas.
And third, I completely agree about MySpace - I don't get it! I read about how great it is, then my sister in college uses and loves it, then my brother who is in a band sent me to his MySpace page --- http://www.myspace.com/aliasunknown --- and I fooled around forever trying to find his songs and how to hear them and it just didn't work and I felt like a total loser. And most of his friends that show up on the page are strippers. So I just didn't get it.

Liz: I hear you on the stripper thing. The "friends" of my friend Beau all look slutty. What's the deal with girls advertising themselves like that? Have they no self-respect? I prefer a photo like my own, of me with a baby goat (Brie). It's sad to think those girls are trying to appeal to the base desires of men. I understand the stupid biology of it. What I don't understand is the stupidity of it. You know? Where's class, grace and dignity in today's women? That's what I want to know. It's so easy to be a whore, I guess (harsh words, but whatever. Women need to step it up and then I won't say they look like whores).

Becca, thanks for the invite. I still don't know how to delete Tom (the moron).

I don't know you, but don't worry -- I'm not like Tom (everyone's friend) on myspace.com. I just wanted to let you know there's a much better poll to use at blogpoll.com. You can keep hitting "refresh" to see what your poll will look like (colors, size, words, etc.). The only problem I had was when I tried to paste the link into my posting. It kept saying there was an error (but then I would click to not show that box again), and I'd try again (repasting, since it would lose half the address), and it finally worked. The colors are fun, the results are easy to view, and it's way more organized than pollhost or whatever. It took a day to work out the kinks (the title of the post wouldn't load up completely at first, but now it looks great, especially when posts were added after). I hope you have good luck getting the poll into a post of yours (persevere!). Have fun and good luck!
